In 2017, I left a banking career in Canada. Not for another job. On a motorcycle. 13,000 kilometers through South America, nine countries, asking a question most people in the Western professional class won’t let themselves ask: what if the default path is a trap?
Eight years later, I run Grey River Associates from Panama City. We’re a cross-border tax advisory and wealth structuring firm with offices in Toronto, Miami, Panama City, San Juan, and Madrid. Our clients are entrepreneurs, investors, and families who have figured out that tax residency is a choice, not a birthright.
I hold a CFA, ADIT, and STEP designation, an MBA from Yale, and I’m pursuing an LLM in International Tax Law at King’s College London. I’ve lived in nine countries. I’ve structured businesses across a dozen jurisdictions. And I’ve spent the last decade watching the Western fiscal model crack from the inside.
